Mary Jane Coombs

Owner & Teacher


Mary Jane Coombs graduated from Utah State University in Elementary Education. She taught 8 years in the public school system, but in 2009 decided to start her own school. Mary’s Little Lambs Preschool (in Layton) ran successfully for 4 years. Miss Mary and her husband, Chris, purchased The Little Red School House in October, 2012. Miss Mary is endorsed in gifted and talented education, and while in college she was trained in special education. She loves teaching! Miss Mary is excited to be a part of The Little Red School House and continue the legacy of an excellent educational preschool. Miss Mary grew up in Layton. Mary and her husband, Chris, have 4 beautiful blond hair kids. Miss Mary stays pretty busy with her family and school, but in her spare time loves to scrapbook, be crafty, read a good book, and play with friends.


Catherine Cheshire

Assistant


Miss Catherine grew up in Layton, Utah.  She met her awesome husband, Shane, at Weber State University while singing in the Institute choir.  She loves singing with and spending time with her family.  She also enjoys running, reading, playing piano, and hiking.  Miss Catherine grew up in a family of 12 children and now has 8 of her own!  She loves being a mom to a large family. She loves kids, they are her favorite people to hang out with.  She is thrilled to be joining The Little Red School House


Charity Julander

Teacher/Assistant


Miss Charity grew up just outside of Randolph, Utah on a ranch.  She has four brothers and one sister.  She attended Weber State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion.  She taught PE at Uintah Elementary for three years and loved every minute of it!  She and her husband, Rollan, have two young children. She loves to be with her family, read, watch movies, play the piano, play basketball and volleyball, go four-wheeling, fishing and snowmobiling.  Her favorite food is crab and her favorite dessert is Raspberry Delight.  She is excited to be part of The Little Red School House.


Charee McKay

Assistant


Miss Charee grew up in South Ogden.  She attended Bonneville High School and is currently attending BYU-Idaho online to receive her bachelor’s degree in Marriage and Family Studies.  She and her husband, Shawn, are currently raising their five children, including a new baby born this summer.  She enjoys reading, quilting, baking and decorating cakes.  She makes the most delicious truffles.


Joann Barber

Teacher


Miss Joann was born and raised in Ogden.  She is one of 8 children.  She met her husband, Justin, while earning her Early Childhood degree at Weber State University.  They have 5 awesome kids!  Miss Joann loves watching them play soccer and run track.  She enjoys reading, playing games, river rafting, movies with good popcorn, playing the piano, and singing.  Her favorite foods are chocolate and bread.  She loves teaching so much that she wakes up every morning to teach English to kids in China at 5:00 a.m.  Miss Joann taught preschool for two years in the Head Start program in Ogden before having kids. Now that her kids are all in school, she’s been teaching again since 2015.  She feels blessed to be able to teach with her best friend, Miss Mary at The Little Red School House.  She can’t wait to get to know all the new Little Lambs.


Kari Smith

Teacher


Miss Kari grew up in Riverdale. She came from a family of five girls. After she graduated from Bonneville High School and attended Weber State University, she taught piano for eleven years. She and her husband, Ryan, have five beautiful daughters and one handsome son-in-law. All of them attended the Little Red School House! Kari loves traveling, playing the piano, cheering on her girls, cooking, and having a root beer float. Kari says, “There is something special about a preschooler. I just love that age. I am very excited to be a part of this amazing preschool and can’t wait to meet your Little Lamb.”


Kathleen Boswell

Teacher


Miss Kathleen grew up in American Fork. She attended BYU (Provo) and is married to Mike Boswell. They have 4 grown children and 11 grandchildren! They reside in Layton. Kathleen has served on the Davis School District Education Foundation for over 10 years. She has also served in her church as a teacher and leader for 30+ years. She will add warmth and fun to your child’s learning experience.

 


Stephanie Barnes

Teacher


Miss Stephanie grew up in West Jordan, Utah.  She studied Elementary and Early Childhood Education at Utah State University.  She then taught Second Grade for three years before taking a break to stay home full-time with her kids.  She and her husband, David, have three awesome children, who all attended The Little Red School House. She is so excited to return to the classroom!  Miss Stephanie enjoys reading, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, hiking and camping.  She’s proud to be a part of The Little Red School House team and looks forward to getting to know your little ones!


Tracie Wilkerson

Assistant


Miss Tracie grew up in Salem, UT with her 4 brothers. When she was 12, her family moved across the country to a tiny town in Wisconsin  After graduating high school, she attended BYU-Idaho. There she met her husband while studying for a social work degree. Since then, they have had 5 amazing children. All of her children have attended preschool at The Little Red School House! Miss Tracie loves to read and make treats. She also loves to spend time with her family doing things like ice skating, snowmobiling, camping, and riding wave runners. She is excited to be a part of Mary’s Little Red School House and meet all the new Little Lambs.
